PPS 2015 projection to retirement
Estimate in today's money. Assumes revaluation keeps pace with pay growth. For an exact figure use your annual benefit statement.
The 2015 scheme is career average, so every year you build a slice of pension that is then revalued each year until you retire.
Each year you add 1/55.3 of your pensionable pay to your pension pot. On £40,000 that is about £723 of annual pension for that year alone.
While you are serving, the pension you have built is increased each year by CPI plus 1.25%, so earlier years keep their value.
Your normal pension age in the 2015 scheme is 60. You can take it earlier from 55, reduced for being paid over a longer period.
The pension is one of the most valuable parts of police pay. See the maths before you decide, and check what staying in costs you each month.
This free police pension calculator projects the annual pension you are building in the PPS 2015 scheme.
Enter your rank and pay point, your age, your planned retirement age and the years you have already served, and it estimates your pension at retirement.
It uses the career average method: 1/55.3 of pensionable pay each year, revalued by CPI plus 1.25% while you serve.
Each year of service adds a slice of pension based on that year's pensionable pay. All the slices are revalued every year until retirement, then added together to give your annual pension.
Because it is career average rather than final salary, your whole career counts, not just your pay at the end. The projection here assumes steady pay growth and revaluation, so treat it as a guide and check your annual benefit statement for the exact position.
